Hello, my name is Zak Billing and I joined CargoLogicAir in May 2021 after the completion of my university studies. For the past four years I have been studying Aviation Management (BSc) in preparation of pursuing a career in this fascinating industry.
My interest in aviation stems back from a very young age. As a child, my family and I would take trips to the local airport and nearby walks, observing the aircraft fly overhead. I still remember the awe and fascination I felt, and It was from that moment onwards that I knew aviation was the industry I had a true passion for.
When it came to university, I knew I wanted to study aviation, and so I joined Coventry University in 2017 on the Aviation Management Course. This provided me with a deep insight into the world of aviation.
Throughout the course I studied a vast array of modules, including management and transport system theories, airline economics and finance, operations and logistics, marketing, safety and security, regulation and many others facets of the industry. During the course I attended multiple guest lectures from major industry leaders and figureheads, attended IATA training seminars and got to experience aviation around the globe, with business trips to the Middle East, including the UAE and Oman.
This is not my first experience at the company. In 2019/20 I was lucky enough to undertake a 12-month internship with CLA, a period in which I worked with multiple departments and got to experience how the company operates. This opportunity allowed me to take the classroom teachings and observe the real-world scenarios in action.
Now, returning as a graduate means I can build on those foundations and start the next chapter in my career. I am very fortunate to have a large exposure to the airline’s senior management team and to the wealth of knowledge and experience they possess, and as such hope to thrive within the company during my tenure.
My aspirations now are to strive as an individual and to develop a comprehensive skillset and wide array of knowledge, that of which I can now hone through real world experience and exposure. I feel very lucky to be part of such a fantastic team and look forward to being part of the CargoLogicAir family.
