New requirement of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection regarding inbound cargo
All inbound shipments have to follow the mandatory Air Cargo Advance Screening (ACAS) program, effective June 1st, 2019. The ACAS program requires the electronic transmission of specified cargo data (ACAS data) to CBP for shipments transported onboard US bound aircraft as early as possible, but not later than loading of cargo into the aircraft at airport of Origin. CBP will check that no high-risk cargo is entering the United States to ensure country safety and security.
Information to be provided via FWB/FHL messages before acceptance to the warehouse:
- Air waybill Number
- Flight Number & Date
- Shipper Name & Address
- Consignee Name & Address
- Proper Cargo Description
- Quantity of Goods
- Total Weight
Missing of required data can cause delay in delivery, as shipment will be kept at Origin until confirmation to load cargo onboard is received from U.S. CBP.
To follow the procedure please be prepared to these new requirements in advance. We kindly ask you to forward this information to your management team and to each department in your company dealing with this issue.
